ソウルを拠点に活動するCAMOは、韓国ヒップホップシーンの頂点へと急速に駆け上がる注目のアーティスト。
アジアのヒップホップシーンを代表する新世代の一人として、自身のレーベル「502」とともにインディペンデントなスタンスを貫きながら、その存在感を強めている。
香港で育った彼女は、幼い頃から西洋のポップカルチャーに強い影響を受けてきた。数年前に学校を中退し音楽の道へ進んだ現在27歳の彼女は、唯一無二のトーンと目を引くキャラクターで韓国国内のみならず世界中で支持を拡大。代表曲「Life is Wet」（feat. JMIN）はリリース以降3,000万回以上の再生を記録し、その後もAOMG所属の人気ラッパーSimon Dominicとのコラボ曲「Wifey」を発表。2021年にはEP『Fragile』をリリースし、世界中のリスナーから多くのストリームと再生数を獲得している。
2022年にはパリやロンドンでの冬のツアーをソールドアウトさせ、「Freak Like Me」のリキャップ映像を公開。同楽曲はTIDALの「K-Pop Rising: Best of 2022」や「The TIDAL K-POP 10」に選出された。さらに同年8月には北米6都市を巡る「Wifey」ツアーを成功させ、大きな反響を呼んだ。テレビデビューも果たし、韓国の人気番組『Show Me The Money 11』ファイナルでは、YGのR.Teeがプロデュースした楽曲「Way Up」に参加している。
2023年には、初のフルアルバム『Pressure Makes Diamonds』をリリース。東洋と西洋を融合させたキャッチーなヒップホップ／R&Bサウンドをさらに進化させた本作には、Jay ParkやAXL Beats（Pop Smoke、Drake）、グラミー賞ノミネート経験を持つAryayらトップクラスのアーティスト／プロデューサーが参加。ラッパー、シンガーとしてだけでなく、ソングライター／リリシストとしての実力も示し、世界水準で戦えるアーティストであることを証明した。
本作はBillboardの「年間ベストK-POPアルバム25選」にも選出。その後も世界各地の著名フェスに出演し、近年ではサンフランシスコを拠点とするレーベルEMPIREとともにミックステープ『Your Truly』をリリース。G-DragonやTygaらを擁するトップレーベルとともに、さらなる飛躍を遂げている。
CAMO is a Seoul-based extraordinaire rapidly ascending to the top of South Korea’s hip-hop hierarchy. As one of the foremost up-and-comers in the Asian hip-hop scene, CAMO’s independence alongside her label 502 continues to shine as she embarks on her career.
Growing up in Hong Kong, the Korean artist was engrossed by Western popular culture at an early age. After dropping out of school just a couple years prior, the now 27-year-old star went on to pursue her musical career, since finding a range of success in South Korea and across the globe for her one-of-a-kind tonality and eye-catching persona. Her breakout hit, “Life is Wet,” featuring KC signee JMIN has accumulated 30 million views since it’s release. She then went on to collaborate with Korean rap heartthrob and AOMG mainstay Simon Dominic for her single “Wifey” which arrived alongside her Fragile EP in 2021. Her songs, alongside her music videos, continue to collect millions of monthly streams and views from fans around the globe.
In 2022, CAMO went on to sellout a brief winter tour in Paris and London late last year, following up the performances with a recap-style music video for “Freak Like Me,” which dropped earlier this year. The track helped land her spots on TIDAL’s K-Pop Rising: Best of 2022 playlist and The TIDAL K-POP 10 editorial list. In August, she went on her six-city North American “Wifey" tour which was met with great fanfare. CAMO made her television debut, as she featured on Show Me The Money 11 Final’s track “Way Up,” produced by YG’s R.Tee.
In 2023, CAMO dropped her debut full-length LP “Pressure Makes Diamonds,” a distinct evolution of her catchy East-meets-West hip-hop and R&B sound,
delivering 13 tracks alongside some of the industry’s best. Ranging from Jay Park to producers AXL Beats (Pop Smoke/Drake) and the Grammy nominated Aryay, the album showcases CAMO’s dynamic range as a rapper and a singer, but equally so, a songwriter and lyricist, positioning her as someone that can easily compete with the world’s best of the best.
The album was selected on Billboard’s annual ’25 Best K-Pop Albums’ List. CAMO has since performed at renown festivals around the world, and most recently dropped her mixtape ‘Your Truly’ alongside San Francisco based record label EMPIRE, home to some of the industries top talents, such as G-Dragon, Shaboozey, Firebox DML, Tyga etc.
